If you set your downld folder to your desktop, you will also have your incomplete folder there as well. I'm not sure it's possible to set the desktop folder itself as a save folder. Not knowing which os version you use, you can either create a shortcut or alias to the downld folder & put that on the desktop. To find out where your downld folder is, go to: for Windows: Tools>Options>Saving & for Mac osx go to LW's Prefs>Saving. This will tell you the name, location & path of the LW Downld folder.

To access your downld folder you can also go to your LW Library window & select the Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. This will open the folder up for you.

picking up on that, if u want to play the song with something other than LW u dont have to put it on ur desktop, just go to where ever ur dl directory is and access it from a regular folder. To put anything on ur desktop u have to know that ur desktop is in C:\Documents and Settings\"whoever is logged in"\Desktop. Ofcourse im talking about Windows.

The simple solution :
Goto C:\Documents and Settings\"Your username"\Shared
R-click on the shared folder and choose copy to: >desktop.
It will make a shortcut on your desktop for the shared folder.

The absolute easiest solution is:

Open LimeWire.
Go to the Library.
Click the folder on the left which has your shared files.
Drag that folder to the desktop.

Presto.

(Of course, RaaF's solution is best in the long term.)
