Unknown file format, .aac extension I am new here and maybe missed something about searching and downloading. First download was from an "m4a" type source at a bitrate of 320. Turned out to be music files in an AAC Audio format, unreadable by any of my players (and not something any of my various sound editing applications can convert. Should I just not be downloading from "m4a" sources or at that high a bitrate to avoid this problem? Or is there a freeware that can convert .aac files to WAV or MP3? TIA |
If you look down on this forum page and find moved:m4a and click on the link. I believe this will answer your question |
This might also help & be more specific to your question: http://www.m4a.com/ (it is an oldish article!) An m4a encoded at 320 I've yet to see. It will sure be good quality. The one advantage m4a has over mp3 is the size. It's a format that's still in its growing stages as far as popularity goes. Before mp3 what was there? mp2! When mp3 1st came out there wasn't that many players with the ability to play it. Wow how things have changed! There's now portable players with the ability to play m4a (no I'm not just talking about iPod.) Perhaps if you search the forum you might find out more. ;) |
Thank you LOTR. I'm still trying to get the linking to other threads down. :D |
