Default terribly slow downloads

Sharing over 1000 files(mp3/avi/jpg) still no success with faster download. SOmereason my limewire runs at 3% while cumputer idle systems process is at 97%.How do I switch this?
system is P4/1.68GHz/512RAM/highspeed cable/limewire pro4.2.6/ 'xp pro /java1.4.2... problem only seems to apply to any movies, not mps /program files..possible that the problem is that it slows for larger files..can this be fixed so small/large files get the same attention?

Give us a total picture of your setup. What's your system: ram, hdd, etc, connection type, connection devices, operating system, etc.? Which version of LW & which version of Java? What type of settings do you have for LW? What is your normal approach & tactic to downlding & continuing incomplete files?

Default Very Slow downloads

I am having the same problem. I am a new user of Limewire.
Does sharing more of MY FILES give me greater speed/access to others?
I am trying to DL an AVI file from a T1 user labeleb as Ultrapeer. I am connected thru a satellite connection (Starband - 500K-900K DL speed) & usually get reasonably fast DL's from other locations/applications. The DL of the AVI file got up to 10% complete & just seem to stop. Mostly it says "Waiting in Position 1" & ocationally shows "Downloading from host" with a speed of 0KB/s-2KB/s. My computer is a Pentium 866Mhz, 128MB RAM, 3 Gigs avail HD space. Is there anything I can do to hlpe the speed problem?

limewire process runs at 3%
I believe there is a way of giving a particular app priority of process activity. Unfortunately since I'm not a windows user per se I'm not sure how it's done. It could be something to do with Task Manager. (I saw it mentioned in a post a few days ago.)

Try downlding from multiple sources where possible. Look under the # column in your search results to find multiple sources. You'll increase you chances of getting reasonable results. If speed peters out, try searching the topic again. The downld may catch onto another new source.

Here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.
