Can someone tell me whats up? I'm running windows xp and use the windows firewall. I have an excellent connection and set my firewall settings to accept gnutella connections. please help!!!!!

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? If false then there might be something partially blocking.

Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Configuration & tell us what the settings are.

I checked and it says received incoming sessions = true
my firewall settings are set to port 6348 so i have now changed according to the instructions to 6346 for udp and tcp....still same thing happening. I've been on for an hour and have received 1% of a file in all that time.

settings = listening on port 6346
router configuration = use UPnP

Well I could suggest you search for more sources by searching the topic again. Another is to stop it & reseltect it from the search results. This can sometimes jump it into action. Another is to close LW & re-open.

It might also be your preferences. Make a note of all your LW settings & then close LW. Then delete the LW Prefs; see: Fixes for Limewire

There didn't seem anything wrong with your firewall.

Also some other hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

Ok thanks....maybe I just need to be more patient....used to have downloads that started immediately and now they dont....my speed is at 0 kb / s for some reason even though it says im downloading from 2 hosts....will try waiting and see what happens....i closed all my initial downloads and did a new search...same thing....

Try using the stop button on them & then re-selecting them. Do it a number of times whilst doing another search as well. Just make sure you re-select the same file from the search list (it will have an icon of an open manilla folder & if you stop it, it will change to a ripped piece of paper.

The reason I said to close & re-open LW is that some other people over the months found that was the way to do it. But it's an odd & painful way of doing it!

After you open LW you should always let it settle down 1st! Depending on how many incomplete AND how many shared files you have, LW can take some time to load them & to connect for each individual incomplete file & also account for each of your shared files. It takes about 10 mins on my computer in mac OSX (but took me over 2 hours in mac OS9 on the same dual os computer). So it can depend on the no. of files & your system. But I wouldn't normally do anything with LW for at least 20 mins after opening. It normally looks after itself. But there's those times I want to find something new, or it's one of those days I have to slog over getting the incompletes restarted. Sometimes LW needs a bit of baby sitting so to speak! lol :D

Ok...I will try that...thanks!!!....guess its back to babysitting for me...hehe....gawd...thought my days of babies was over:D

I give up....I've been connected to Limewire now for over an hour and my downloads are still sitting at only 3% downloaded with an excellent connection and 0 kb/s downloading from 3 hosts....it would be quicker for me to have someone else search and send to me over a messenger service....

Lord of the Rings February 3rd, 2005 10:57 AM

Then close LW down. Then open up again. Leave it. Let it settle. Go away & have a cup of coffee before doing anything with LW. LW is best & most stable if it's left to its own devices for a time.

Also keep in mind some days & times are better than others. If the people who have the file go offline then ...
