Weird icons I seem to have just started to see wierd icons in the icon colomun for the type of file it is when I do a search. Has anyone else seen this and how do I correct it? |
Har harharhar! lol :D There's different types of icons for every type of file. Can you give us a snapshot of these icons? If they are abnormal then I can tell you otherwise I can explain what they are. Remember when you choose to downld a file, its icon will change to an open manilla folder. If you stop a file from downlding it will change to a ripped piece of paper. |
1 Attachment(s) Is this what you meant? The 1st is a downld that's been stopped. The 2nd is a file that is still presently in the downld process. The 3rd is a file that hasn't been chosen but it shows its downld quality stars. the last is a file that has completed its downlding which is represented with a tick. (Yes I already finished downlding that one!) |
It used to show the rar icon or zip icon or show exe. Now it shows a square like multi color thing. It's in the column after the #sign. I have a ? in the bar. |
I haven't heard of that before! How often has it happened? Which version of LW are you using? You can find out by going to the LW menu Help>About LW & this will tell you the LW version you're using. |
It just started this a short time ago. It was fine earlier today. I'm using 4.4.1. pro. |
This needs further investigation. So you get a question mark? But before it had a different icon for the zip or rar files? I wonder if it's due to the utility that did the compressing. Perhaps a 3rd party app. There's a no. of apps that can compress a file into those formats. It may have been done on a different operating system environment. I know for mac, the filesystem is different & xtra info is added to each file to give it more unique info. But when you put these files onto a windows platform then this xtra info will be ignored & may have difficulty reading the full info of the file. I don't know if that makes sense to you? |
How did you send a picture of the search window? If I could do that, you might get a better idea what I'm trying to say if you could actually see it. |
I'm not sure about on windows but every pc has a snapshot ability where you use certain keyboard keys to take a pic of the screen or better still, to take a pic of 'only' the area you want to take. In Win XP there's an image program which you can use to do this. I can't remember what it's called. But if you have a look around your programs or xtra utility apps you may find it. Save the file as a jpg or GiF & then include it as an Attached file. See below the text box when you post, for the Browse button to find your image. |
I'm using Windows Me. I guess I'll just keep exploring and see If I can figure it out. I even tried removing and installing but no change. |
