Increase upload bandwidth Hi, I am using Limewire 4.2.6... I have two firewalls (Norton Internet Security, and a Netgear router) I opened port 6346 on the router and gave Limewire full permissions in NIS. Although I am able to reach total download throughputs of over 700KBps, I can't seem to upload over 50KBps. Limewire will spread this 50KBps out over however many upload slots I allow. My cable company tells me I have a 5.0mbps connection so I should be able to send at a quicker rate than this, no? |
I might forward this post on to someone else! Hope you don't mind the delay! ;) |
Forwarded to...ME! *room shudders* Hey cut that out! Aneeway, thaat is a problem with ADSL. That's what the A stands for: assymetric, as in "my dld bandwidth is, like 500% bigger than my upload bandwidth". (there's also lo and hi ADSL but let's skip that) What you must do is figure out your upload bandwidth. Most ISPs advertise only the dld bandwidth saying: "Hey, lookie here! 8MBps!" and for all you know, the upload bandwidth could be 8KBps... So ask them. What upload bandwidth are you paying for? |
