I'm not to sure about the UP capabilities, and how effects other modes of operation in LW. Some one else would be able to answer that question better than I.

Yes it does happen. I have hit d/l speeds of 120+ KB/s. Mostly when the # is 40+. My LW speed connection is T-1 though.
