Default Tools-Only thing that comes up is "statistics"

My Mac OS 10(brand new) only gives me"statistics" when I click on Tools. I want to try some options but can't.

You're looking in the wrong place!
That only applies to windows & mac os9 users. Instead LW's Preferences are under the Limewire name at the very top left of the menu bar. Choose LW Preferences & you'll find your options!
