Default video player that supports codecs

Hi

Sorry to be a pain, i've tried to read other codec related sites but can't find an answer.
Does anyone know a player that will play most downloaded videos.
I have divx and divx player but some won't even play in that.

I have Windows XP

Thanks

Default well

I've tried all of those.
Every time i try to open the nimo site internet explorer shuts the site down
I downloaded gspot but that doesn't play the films and i don't know what else to do with it.
And same for vdl!

At that 1st link the mirror1 link doesn't work. Try Mirror2 at the Nimo link.

You mean you tried VLC & it didn't work?! I would be surprised. VLC has all its codecs built-in within it. It plays all but the odd wmv file. The only downside to it is its controls are a bit sloppy at times. Try it: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

For codecs you could try an alternative if you have difficulty with mirror 2; try http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

I've downloaded vcl, sorry to be such a pain, but i don't know how it works. It's on the desk top, and so is the film, so i dragged the film to the vcl icon...
Vcl starts up...
but what is meant to happen?
Does it play the film?

VLC should play the film. If not, go to the VLC menu File>Open & direct it to the movie.

As far as the nimo site goes, remember I said to ignore mirror 1 link & only click on the mirror 2 link (it's also been moved but should link up with a redirect link.) But if you're having probs with it, then try the other link I gave you. That brand of codecs is also very good. Here's another if you want (but I don't know how reliable these ones are): http://www.free-codecs.com/

There is of course always the possibility the movie it corrupt. If you have the full versions of Nero or Roxio Easy CD/DVD then try to play the movie with them. If they can't play it then it doesn't look good.
