Greetings 256 MB of RAM is minimal requirements for LimeWire and most of the new programs today. It appears you are using up all your system resources. Kinda like everything getting in a traffic jam. Have you performed the routine maint. mentioned above this will help. Also decrease the number of d/ls you are attemting. Also configure LimeWire for optimal performace. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036 1st post only |

RAM can be an important factor. You really need 500 MB to be on the safe side nowadays. When you use LW do you use the Resume function. I'd strongly advise against using it to continue multiple downlds on a dial up connection & particularly if you don't have lots of ram. It will rob LW of its connection quality & use up LW's resources & perhaps your comp's if you used the Resume button on many files. Settings changes: Tools>Options>Speed & tick to disable the ultrapeer capabilities. Press Apply button. On uploads reduce your upload bandwith to 2.3 KB/s or less. Set your downloads to automatically clear. Delete search results more than a few hours old. Close/Hide windows you are not using at that time (eg: connections, library, monitor windows.) Use the View menu to do this. Which version of Java do you have? You can find out by going to LW's menu > Help & choose About LW. Delete LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed. Instructions here: Fixes for Limewire Fabion beat me to the button. |

Ahhhh! I have same problem with LimeWire after version 4.2.6 (it not hangs), verions starting with 4.3/4.4 hangs. Currently I trying to track down hangs... I use operating system OS/2, and JVM ported from Sun JVM 1.4.1_07. May be nla1228 uses same version of Java? And same JVM problem exist in OS/2 and Windows? Simptom is absolutely same - table filling with search results and GUI hangs. By tracking down this hang, I found that similar hang may happen when awt-thread and non-awt thread updating swing components at the same time. May be in 4.3/4.4 some code which updates swing from threads executed without EventQueue.invoke(AndWait/Later) ? |
