Corrupt files! I thank you for all of your tips. However overall it really has not changed the issue at hand. What I'm really interested in knowing, why this changed AFTER I purchased the PRO version. I never ever had any of these problems with the basic free version!! |

As I said, I haven't heard any issue of corrupts with a particular version of LW. You can instead go back to the free version to see if that solves the issue. Sounds more like your choice of download sources or something with your system & connection set up. When was the last time you did a SAFE Boot & Repaired Permissions ? It's normally recommended both before & after you install software. You could also check out some suggestions here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...3462#post93462 No refund on any software. Besides what are you going to do with your $18.88, buy a handful of macdonalds big macs. lol Just joking. |

Corrupt File - probably fake files LimeWire or LimeWire Pro does not solve the "corrupt file" problem. I'm using LimeWire for the first time, tried to download 8 varying source of the same song, and got "corrupt file" for ALL of them either during partial download or at the completion. This does not bode well (and irritates the hell out of new users trying out LimeWire) for LimeWire as: 1. It shows it's no better than Kazaa (or Klite), who cares about speed if you get corrupt files. 2. I don't understand why LimeWire doesn't just filter out "corrupt" files even if that means a slower search. I think the "corrupt" files are the same as the "fake" files over at Kazaa where the files are either just filled with silence or noise or loops of sections of music. These are my main source of frustration and my main reason for switching to other P2P networks. My conclusion is though LimeWire is no worse than Kazaa, it's no better and not worth switching to, much less pay for. |

Your opinion but this issue has been discussed many times on the forum. It does appear the RIAA/Music Industry are loading T3 connections with corrupt files. And some who downld them don't check their files for some time so don't realise they have them sitting in a shared folder. My suggestion is to avoid T3 sources for music! Else take the time to check the file size versus the bit-rate (quality.) eg: If you see a file that's 5 MB & encoded at 160 kbps, & you see another at 5 MB but at 320 kbps, then you know one of them is corrupt. More than likely the latter will come from a T3 source. And vice versa if you see 2 files at 192 kbps & they are particularly different in size then one of them might be corrupt. Not all T3 sources are bad! A good way to check is to launch the downld as it's in process. If you can't play it properly then be suspicious of it! |
