Corrupt file issues! I have just purchased Limewire Pro and since then I get a message saying: LimeWire had detected a corruption in the file "song title".mp3. Do you want to continue the dowload? I never had this issue with the basic version of LimeWire, what gives??? |
Just luck! You have a choice of continueing the downld or not. Then you can try again. However I'd recommend you try a different source next time if that's possible. ;) |
Corrupt files! I would not call it luck. It happens to every single file I have been trying to download, by all kinds of different artists. I have also tried different sources, but with same result.:( |
I have LW Pro & I don't have that problem. Let's see if we can find out what's causing it. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? By the way did you delete the LW Preferences folder after you installed LW Pro? Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: win 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. ram? 4. HDD space available? 5. Connection type? (dial up, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. LW & Java version? Can find this out in the above bug report or in the About LW window. |
Corrupt files! Os version is Mac OS 10.3.8 I have firewalls, I believe they are called Virex 512 of ram 48 GIG of HD space available I have cable internet connection The modem is a RCA, DCM315 I connect from home I have LimeWire Pro version 4.4.4 Java version 1.4.2_05 I’m not sure where and what the LW preferences folder are! |
Every program stores their settings in a file in the preferences folder. For Mac OSX you can find them here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire But only do it whilst LW is closed! Before you do it make a note of all your LW settings. After you delete the preferences you will need to reset these option settings. Firewalls: Did you configure them to allow LW through? Is Port 6346 open? Check your firewall instructions for allowing certain apps access through. Net games & video conferencing would also need to be given permission to pass. Virex! I thought it was only an anti-virus application! Are you sure your OSX firewall is not active? If yes you'd need to do the same thing. I can provide instructions for OSX. |
Corrupt files! I went ahead and deleted the preferences folder. I checked my firewall in the "Sharing" in systems preferences and it's NOT turned on, so all ports are open. (I'm not quite sure if that's a good thing generally!) What next? |
I don't know too many people who use firewalls for OSX. But if you want to you can enable it but allow LW to pass see instructions here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml By the way, what sources were you downlding from? Were they T3 sources? See: T3 Spammers |
Corrupt files! Yes I did use the T3 files. I just tried using just dsl/cable files, but now I mainly get "need more resources" |
Try downlds with multiple sources under the # column. You may or may not be interested in some hints about optimising LW's use: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...028#post116028 |
