Downloads Go to 1kb after 15minutes hi people thanks for reading, i have a 1mb broadband connection, i have searched and i cant find nothing related specifically for this problem im having on the forums so maybe someone else can tell me whats going on! I start limwire when i first connect to the net, and download a file, it will go at a good 100kb/s, im very pleased :D *UNTIL* about 15minutes into the download/of being on limewire, the download will near enough stop, still with all the souces connected *around 7 or 8* and go at 1kb/s - 3kb/s only!!!!! im not sure why this is, becuase i can still download from the internet websites at 120kb/s just not limewire, could it be my connection needs setting up for limewire or is it limewire itself? you tell me ! PLEEEEASEEE regards scott |

Hmmm not sure but did you read this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=voyager+modem |
just read the link seems to be nothing of what im on about, he had a problem with uploads but fixed it with his firewall settings, i still have no clue why my limewire wont download, it uploads fine sharing like 13000 files :( SO unfair someone else MUST have this problem or someone must know why im getting this :( |
Let's check a few things: After LW has been open for a minimum of 30 mins do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? If you have people uploading from you it's normally much easier to maintain good speeds & good search results. I know you're sharing a lot of files. Another 2 ways to revitalise a download is to do another search for sources. Another is to stop it & reselect it from the search results. Difficult to know why your problem occurs. It might be the sources have suddenly started shring their upld bandwidth with others, or there may be some interference/busy traffic in between. Or someone's isp if filtering speeds. I'mm sure there's other possible reasons also. |
im having the same type of issues scottyboy is having.. i've done it all.. i've adjusted my firewalls accordingly, i've turned from dynamic to static, redone all my ip's etc.. fixed up my router as explained and suggested.. out of 6 days 2 days were very very great. the other 4 just sucked badly. so im assuming Lord is prolly right, but with that in mind my confusion is, "i just got cable at my current house" before this anywhere else i was at with say my laptop etc.. i downloaded with ease and sufficency. so i think theres something else were all missing.. would be nice to know what it is, if anyone else knows or has any ideas. just to save time and posts ;) im running winxp pro sp2 norton runnin dlink wireless router di424 2gigs kingston ddr 240gigs hd's geforce 6800gt i have this pc and 2 laptops i use "wirelessly" on my network. and both are affected by this issue just like my main pc. |
Wythered: If you used port forwarding of port 6346 for one of your computers, you'll need to forward a separate port no. for each of the others. ie: the other 2 must use a different port no. Be that 6348 & 6342 for example. Unless you just jump-connect them with the same connection & don't run them from at the same time. I think you'd find the other two computers give a False reading on the Bug Report. |
so pretty much, the stuff i did for my main i need to do for my laptops? generally they run at the same time for the most part, yes. im more concerned with my main if i can get my main to run it right that would make me more happy, then i can go deal with my laptops. i didn't give other info on my main i forgot pen 4 3.0ghz is the proc |
im in the process of downloading on both 1 laptop and my main and both are downloading great between 20kb/s and 120kb/s this would be the 3rd good day out of i think 6 or 7 days. and im downloading multiple songs on both pc's so... either, being on shared broadband "cable" on a farm is bad, or something else is a miss.. heh |
If you check this technique out: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...912#post120912 You'll find it works & can be quite effective (I wrote that for a beginner but the principle applies.) In fact I was doing that earlier. A downld would slow down to zero so I'd stop it, & then reselect it from the search results. And occasionally searching again to see if I could find fresh sources & another bit of enthusiasm to jerk the downld back into action. I've been using that technique for a few years since LW2. lol But it works with those difficult ones. Generally I just turn LW on & leave it go & it looks after itself. But on some days I need to slave over it. Like today for a few. But then again, this should not be happening to all your downlds! If someone's uplding from you then you generally get better results all round. (Sure there's going to be some you can't connect to but they're exceptions.) |
I'm not sure the "farm" is applicable. In the city if you have cable & all your neighbours are sharing it then it can be an issue for them b/c their results can be inconsistent. They'll have peak periods where their bandwidth drops. (I've seen jokes of neighbours arguing over use of the net.) lol :D |
Your main connection to the voyager, is it USBv or ethernet? Ethernet is much prefered. It's much more reliable. View 3.4 USB-based modems/routers & scroll down to 3.4 USB-based modems/routers. USB may result in drops in performance. |
download at 200 go to 0 I am having the same problem I can be downloading at 200KB/s with 8 connections then it will start droping goes to 0 drops connections then starts all over again this happens every 10 to 15 minuets Norton firewall is configured for LimeWire,Windows Firewall off. I have tried several versions of limewire and all are the same. I have been using for over a year now this problem has just started in the last month.I would appricate any help or sugestions My computer is home built AMD 2600+ Athlon at 2300 Mhz 2 WD 120 GB 7200 rpm HD 1.5 GB DDR (333 PC 2700) Windows XP Pro SP/2 LimeWire 4.4.5 Java Version 5.0 1.5.0-01 Motorola surfboard S85100 |
Immediate suggestion; make a note of your LW setting & then delete the LW prefs folder as in here: Fixes for Limewire And perhaps get read of some of those incomplete files that have been hanging around for some time at 0% & their counterparts on the downld list. This problem is not something that should be happening regularly. |
Looks like this is a common problem :p |
Thanks lord fix #2 seemed to help been downloading for about a hour now between 70 & 90 KB/s has not droped below 30 and then only for a few sec. Do you have any Idea of why this happend how did the settings get changed |
lol yeah the farm was a small cackle type joke.. sorry for slow response "i drive truck" so was gone for a few days, so far i've been doin good, what i did was not use the ports suggested in the "help" section so to speak, i just changed a # like you suggested for my laptops, i did that for all my pc's and so far working pretty good not to bad of slow downs. |
