Resumed download starts at 0% instead of where it left off

I downloaded 70% of a file, and when I resumed it the next time, it began at 0%. I tried upgrading from Limewire 4.4.4 to 4.6.0, but I still had the same problem.

Is there something wrong with the downloads.dat or downloads.bak files? Resuming the download from that same file in the Incomplete folder still gave me the 0% in the progress bar.

Any ideas?

(I think that it may have been because I had moved the file out of the Incomplete folder and back (with a Limewire launch in between these actions).)

Force Resume or Resume from the library window will tend to have that side-effect. But yes moving it out of the incomplete folder whilst LW is open might have stuffed it up.

So is there any way to resume the download instead of having to start from 0% again?

Not if it has already shown up as 0%. But in future I'd suggest to search the topic of the file to find the sources. If you know you have the right source then it should start downlding. If necessary then stop it from the downld window & reselect from the search results. Particularly if it was the wrong source.

It looks like I'm not the only one having this problem of resumed partially complete downloads restarting at 0%. I've concluded that it happens when people move the partially downloaded file out of the Incomplete directory and move it back in. (There would be good reasons for doing this, such as temporary solutions for low hard disk space, or for resuming the download on another computer.)

All these people below are having the exact same problem:

Shouldn't this bug be addressed in Limewire's development? I've gone from every version from 4.2 to 4.8, and the problem still occurs.

It would make more sense if Limewire could detect the file and determine the correct percentage of the download that has been completed so far.

It doesn't appear to be a bug to me. If you read your middle link. It clearly points out the .dat and .bak files should also be moved along with the incomplete folder. You can check out this link also. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...highlight=.bak

If a user deletes, moves, or modifies the incomplete folder files. That is now LimeWire's fault. I don't think so.
