Hey all, Just wanted to let you all know that I do not see a winamp icon when I'm searching for mp3's within winamp. I just see a generic windows icon. I have tried refreshing my icon cache via Tweak UI, and also, disabled and reenabled the mp3 extension in winamp5, but there is still no proper icon showing when I'm searching for *.mp3 files in 4.8. I let WMP take control of the mp3 extensions and Limewire handled it just fine. I also reinstall Limewire and it still had the same issue. Anyone can help with this matter would be great. |
See Setting Default app & apply the same. It should change over to winamp's icons. |
I tried that and may other ways to set the mp3 property extension. Still didn't work. My problem is being able to get the icon to show properly, not for winamp to play and understand (associate) the mp3 extension. In windows it's understood as winamp, it's just a problem with Limewire 4.8 Thanks |
1 Attachment(s) Did you check WinAmp's Preferences? Under File Types you can control the icon use anytime! |
1 Attachment(s) Yes, I have done all that. LimeWire plays any mp3 I download through winamp just fine. I just don't see the winamp icon being represented. (I have the LimeWire internal player disabled) Here's a screenshot of what I mean: |
Don't know then. If winamp's agent is enabled & associations ticked then I'm also puzzled. Does Winamp launch when you launch from LW? It might be something to do with M$'s WMP player settings. Take a look at those. |
Yeah, Winamp does start up from LW. I think it's a LimeWire bug. I did not have this problem back a version ago, version 4.6 Could you forward/move this to the appropriate bug section? I checked all associations, they are fine. Thank you :) |
I didn't have the same problem as you. As you can see from the sample I gave in the link at the beginning. I'm now using LW 4.8 I didn't notice this problem with 4.6 |
I never had a problem with 4.6 and below. I have this icon problem just with 4.8 |
I don't have the problem either in 4.8.0 or the earlier versions. I just checked my WMP file associations and I have MP3 disabled there. Perhaps you could check that it is disabeled ? |
For heavens sake, yes it is disabled and yes I did check everything. I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I did write that I have checked everything and every extension per program and in Windows file associations as well... I'm getting frustrated because I have to keep repeating myself over and over again. Thank you anyway |
same problem I too have that problem, however, LW will not even preview the mp3. The download looks normal (minus the correct icon) and when i go to the download folder, it appears as a winamp file. The file ends up being nearly 20+ minutes long and nothing but silence. This is what I posted in another forum about my problem: Just in the past week or so, I have noticed that all of the icons referring to mp3's have changed to the 'unknown file' icon. On a mouse roll over, the help window pops up and says 'winamp media file' but after downloading, the file is currupt. T3's are not the only ones who are like this...it is every mp3 file. The mpeg files turn out fine, so far. I have tried all of the suggestions that have been posted and none change the files. I have even found a website that distributes older versions (all the way back to 1.4b) of Limewire and they too have the same problem. It's either a registry entry during limewire install that does this or it's a mass network problem/scam...I dunno. |

I uninstalled Winamp 5.08e and reinstalled Winamp 5.08e again and that fixed the problem. Thanks |
