Mate, I decided to use my spare 17gb hdd, wipe it and install my XP. I then installed all my software (Office 2003, Nero, ZoneAlarm etc) then reinstalled LW. It works perfect - plus for the 1st time i got 148kbps on a download! Now I have to decide to wipe my original 80gb hdd and start from scratch. This coming from a Systems Officer (Analyst / Programmer) who could charge mega bucks but does not. So this means that the ONLY way of curing LW is to reformat and begin again! steve, glasgow, scotland |

You are not gonna believe this...after reformatting and installing LW Pro, I downloaded 5 mp3s this evening and then LW crashed and pc rebooted. LW must have some severe issues! This HDD has been cleaned, XP installed, Anti Virus plus McAfee and ZoneAlarm. Will anyone please tell me what else I can do? What about the upload / download bandwidth as regards 1mb broadband from telewest? I need urgent help FAST. steve p.s. I was "s_muttley" before! |

@ Muttley66: your system hardware is bad. Check for your RAM modules (there are software that diagnostic those, search google) or/and your moderboard. If it is not a bad RAM module, something must be overheating. Bonne chance

How can something be overheating? I am not into hardware myself - software programmer. The board cpu and memory were bought in january and as far as I seen, nothing was tampered with. It appears to be only LW which causes problems. Winmx, Kazaa, Bit Torrent, Bit Lord etc do not cause problems. |

Well I don't think you have the proper test equipment to do that. But this might be a simple way to check. Using your default mp3 player. Select a song and play it. Turn the volume all the way up on the mp3 player, also turn the volume all the way up on your speakers. Cover ears if needed and warn anyone around. Watch your display. If it fades in and out with the rythym of the music, that is an indication that the power supply is being stressed. It might also duplicate your problem. |

Overclocking: daft question...how is this possible? I run a sempron 2400 and, since my mate (fixes pcs) installed it with me watching, we never fiddled with any jumper settings. It seems that LW runs helluva fast (some mp3s download at incredible speed compared to my original HDD). This "tester" hdd was reformatted remember! I do not want rid of LW...no way! how can you tell if a cpu is overclocked? |
