Could be due to a no. of reasons. Lets try the simple fixes 1st. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your ISP Provider?

but last week i used to download at bout 11-12kb/s

You did you delete your LW prefs folder?

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image True/False?

ro24 March 21st, 2005 11:10 AM

false:(

Lord of the Rings March 21st, 2005 11:43 AM

False means that you're firewalled. It's either due to your computer firewalls or your modem/router firewalls. That's why I asked for those details in my question list. Please supply details of your modem/router.

For XP firewall see here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

With people uplding you will get much, much better results. LW is designed that way. You'll find your search & downld results improve. What's more, depending on what you're sharing, you may find you get different groups of uploaders thus different search results when you do a search. It makes a difference.

ok so i did do all that already... still nothing
wat i dont understand is how its become like this.. it was working perfectly

ro24 March 21st, 2005 12:00 PM

i use pc-cillin virus scan.. i think that has a firewall too?
the make of my modem is Sagem USB fast 800-840

Lord of the Rings March 21st, 2005 03:01 PM

Virus scanners are usually just virus scanners but, I have heard of them causing problems before. As to whether yours has a firewall... you'll need to check all its options.

As a general rule most usb modems/routers don't use internal firewalls. But if yours does then you'll find out if you can change such options such as which ports are open. See: http://www.portforward.com/sagem/Liv...forwarding.htm which is not your model but it's the best I could find at short notice. Your manual might explain more. IF you need to forward a port you need to go thru these processes (very important): 1. Set up a static ip. 2. Forward a port; LW uses port 6346 by default. 3. Within LW set up the manual port forward: Force IP/Manual port forward instructions & sample image AND 2 posts after that.
