With Win XP you should be using Media Player 10 by now. Go to windows update site & update all files. If you didn't get Windows Media player 10 for some strange reason, open Media player click on help, upgrade media player. If you still have problems playing movies click on forum search, codecs for the latest. Also DivX Player is a good alternative.

DivX provides a Player as well as codecs which is a back up to the Windows Media Player. AVIPREVIEW is another alternative. This can be found by adding www. to the beginning of avipreview and dot com at the end.
