Help me please

Hi everybody im new to limewire just joined last night im having trouble understanding everything looked through faq and im still stuck when downloading movies there are little icon things like avi and mpg what do they mean and which ones are the best to download from how do you view movies youve downloaded and how do you get them on to discs TIA
