How to burn the movies into a DVD.RW

I have downloaded some movies in AVI. format, but when I try to burn it to A DVD-RW it doesn't work. Can someone help me?

For a decent burner app like nero or easy cd/dvd creator it shouldn't be a problem. See: http://forum.dvd-guides.com/
