A way to detect 'corrupted' or hoax files in Limewire Hi Guys, I just notice one way to detect corrupted files before you even d/l it. Here's the way: On your search list, put your mouse over the fil you like to d/l, in Limewire info about the file will pop out: e.g. for a video file: Video Title Minutes: 43.803 If the file is a hoax, it will appear like this: Video Title Minutes: -1.#IO It shows that Limewire cannot decode the file. So don't d/l this file. Hope this helps! |

The only problem with this is the "forced grouping" that Limewire performs when searching. If you look for a movie that has eleven shares and one of them is corrupted, you can't "ungroup" and block the ip of the corrupted file from further searches. So, no matter what you do, you are basically screwed, as I am with three separate files I'm trying to download. I have some corrupted files in the mix (I suspect sabotage, since the d/l rate jumps to 125k) and I have no way of blocking them out. We need to bring back the ungroup option or find a better way for users to block certain IPs. |
