Limewire V 4.8.1 Download Problems Hi i'm really fustrated with limewire can someone help? i send bug reports to bugs@limewire.com and no reply? what's the point of buying limewire pro if it's so slow? It can connect but downloads at a speed of 1/kb. It USED to be 56/kb or MORE. HOW DOES PORT 6346 HELP? i've tried deleting my .limewire folders, disabling firewall, internet worm protections, adding 6346 UDP, 6346 TCP, Updating Java, adding javaw not to be blocked by firewall. IS THERE A FIX? CAN ANYONE REPLY??? Configuring Norton Internet Security & if you use Norton IS then disable Win XP firewall. Port 6346 is the port LW listens & uplds & downlds thru. This can be changed under Tools>Options>Firewalls. Do you have it set to UPnP or manual port forwarding? Not all modems/routers that use NAT firewalls can use UPnP technology. Some hints: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! Allow LW to settle for 10-20 mins before using. Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time. A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. eg: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...028#post116028 |

"If" you're being filtered by your ISP provider then you can try to complain but it's difficult to know b/c they do it secretly & people at the front help desk probably won't even know. If people are uplding from you then you'll get much better results. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is it True/False? If false it means you're firewalled & people will greatly struggle to upld from you. |

If you upgrade your plan then of course you should be able to get better speeds but, remember there's limits depending upon whether the people you're downlding from are using dial up or how much spare bandwidth they have available spread b/w a no. of people. Some people offer great upld speeds by not having too many upld slots, but some have it set to unlimited slots so if they're busy it might mean their upld speed drops after it's been divided amongst many people. |
