![]() Has anyone experienced file verification problems lately? This is what I'm getting: I'm downloading a large file, maybe 350 mb - 700 mb. All goes well until the file is completely downloaded, no indication of any corruption. During the file verification stage, the file is checked and the final 1 % seems to fail the verification process and is re-downloaded again. Fails again, and is re-downloaded. This is repeated until I finally give up and stop the download. Sometimes if I rename the incomplete file to something else, I'll get a complete file, sometimes not. Can anyone explain this? I'm inclined to blame corrupt files, and not LW. Smaller files, such as music files and short videos are, more often than not, flawless. |

![]() Okay, it's happening again. I downloaded an episode of ****** (hdtv which I don't have on my tv); it came in over the last several days, dled smoothly until it got to the 99% mark, went to 100% and then started a loop between 99 and 100 percent. This time i didn't actually see the file verification process kick in, but I'm almost sure it did. Anyway, I went into the incomplete folder (the file was showing up in red type) and copied it to another folder before using a media player on it. The episode was complete, despite the apparant failure at 99% and virtually flawless. I don't understand what might be happening here. All my drives are good, I keep them defragged, I run a Pentium 4, 2400 gig. machine with 1 gig. ram. Will one of the experts/moderators give this one some thought and let me know what they think? ![]() I certainly didn't comment about this b/c it's not an issue I've had to deal with on any frequency. Yesterday someone in the Mac OSX section of the forum also complained about this issue. I think I've had this happen only once. One comment I will make though is that at 99% which could really mean anywhere b/w 99.0-99.99%, that you haven't lost much. Perhaps the last credits of the movie (probably less than 1 minute.) File verification may fail if there is simply 1 single bit or byte that doesn't match up. You could try deleting your preferences folder whilst LW is closed to see if your prefs are semi-corrupted but still not sure this is the issue (see instructions here: Fixes for Limewire.) If this is happening with frequency I wonder if it's due to packet loss over your isp service or an anti-virus or firewall that's somehow changing the contents of your file. (I am aware of a website that offers packet loss testing but you need to sign up & pay a fee.) (Also remember that a preview will duplicate that entire % of the movie that's been downlded at that time & place it in the incomplete folder with the word PREVIEW added to it.)
