Why can't I view avi files? Help! I can view wmv and mpg files because I have both wmv and quicktime. But whenever I download something that is avi, I can't view it even though it uses quicktime also. It says it is missing a compressor or something. How you guys view avi files? |
Looks like you may need some codecs or possibly an alternate player. Check out this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ghlight=codecs |
I don't get it, I already have quicktime. Isn't that all I need to see avi files. What players do you guys use? Is this normal? BTW, I use a mac OSX, if that matters. |
avi files come in different types/formats, so you may need the codec for that particular avi file type. VLC is a good alternate player it has all the codecs already and plays all videos except for a few odd ones, which doesn't seem to be your case. It is in the above link. |
Thanks a lot!!!!!!! I downloaded vlc and it works! I can see wmv, avi, mpg, virtually anything on it. This is a sweet player. Thanks. |
