![]() (hope this hasn't been posted before, but I haven't seen it) Recently, when searching for movie, files I've come across the situation that even though I can see about 30 instances of the exact same file, they all appear as thought they are different. I searched for e.g. Kingdom of Heaven and the results (when sorted by size) goes like this: TMD - Yourmom - 2 of 2 avi 171,9 MB T1 TMD - Yourmom - 2 of 2 avi 171,9 MB T3 or Higher TMD - Yourmom - avi 171,9 MB T3 or Higher ...and it just goes on, which means I can only download from one user. I tried to start more downloads of the same file and they just download as if they were separate files. This by no means happen to all my searches, I've only seen it with 3-4 searches. Does anyone know what's going on – and how I can start downloading from multiple users within these weird search results? Last edited by Peerless; May 21st, 2005 at 04:17 PM. |

![]() Those files must be very slightly different. limewire has a method of identifying files-its call an "md5 sum" i think, or else it uses a similar method. this means it can compare one file toanother using its md5 sum and know whether they are the same or not. If md5 sums are not used in limewire, then a very similar method is used. I know this bcoz when i have added extra files ot my shared foler, when i run limewire it puts extra load on my computer as the number of files i am sharing slowly goes up- it is making an md5 sum or its limewire equivilant. so as i said, the files are slightly different, and limewire knows this, even if the movie is the same! jacobson! |

![]() well, maybe they are slightly different, but it sure doesn't seem like it. It's very rary, that a search for something so popular as e.g. wouldn't return any files where my than one user has the file? If I search for any other new movies like "Star Wars 3 trailer" 36 users at least 70 people has the most popular file. Has any one else experienced this with particular movies etc.?
