Linksys WRT54G, all files corrupt Hello all, After searching these boards for days and trying everything I could find, I am still getting the problem that I see a lot of folks have... all my downloads hit 100% and then say corrupted. I opened the port on my linksys wrt54g for both tcp and udp. I have tried it both on a SuSE linux machine and a Windows XP machine (with firewall configured as instructed by these forums). Both these machines are behind the same WRT54G router. I have a motorolla VoIP cable modem with time warner cable. Both the windows and linux machine bug reports show "Received incomming this session: True" Since both of these machines are doing the same thing, I have to believe it is something with my router. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... I am out. Thanks. |
update As a last ditch effort, I upgraded my router firmware to the latest level... no luck. I am out of ideas. It is a shame, b/c LW is definitely the best out there and I like it for both my Windows and Linux machines. Hopefully someone has another angle of attack I havent thought of. |
Salut, I've got a WRT54G too and I never had a problem with corrupted files. Maybe there is a problem in the harware of the router, but I doubt it... Can you try without it if the problems still occurs? Ciao |
tried without wrt54g.. same error Hello all, I tried the above suggestion and connected directly to my cable modem without the router inline. I got the same thing. Could it be my cable modem? Model is: Motorola SBV4200 Voice over IP cable modem. FYI.. my java levels are 1.5 on my winxp machine and 1.4.2 on my SuSE linux machine. WinXP: Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_02-b09) Copyright 2004 Sun Microsystems, Inc. SuSE 9.2: java version "1.4.2_06" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode) Any new suggestions? Later, Charles |
My conclusions would be that it is either your modem, or your ISP that plays with Gnutella packets. I see your connection passes through IBM servers. You could always call them and say your modem is defective. If the replacement still fails then it's your ISP! Ciao et bonne chance ;) |
Corrupted files I'm having the same problem but not with all files. Certain songs simply won't download properly. I can try to download the same song from different sources 10 times and will always get the file corrupted message once I reach 100%. This is usually with new songs. Could it be a file encryption that my computer can't decypher? I even tried to continue download after the warning but my Windows Media player nor my Limewire player plays the file. I can't preview the file when downloading either... |
Moose, I get the same thing if I try to "continue download" after it detects corruption. It completes but I cannot play it either. Looks like we have the EXACT same problem. Neither my limewire previewer nor winamp will play the file. Charles |
I`m new to this forum, just registered after reading your post. I may have broken the cardinal rule of posting before reading other posts. I will keep looking for some info and will post again. I agree, sounds like we have the same problem. Good luck! |
TWC ? Moose, You wouldn't by chance be on time warner cable also would you? Thanks, Charles |
