Damn use 4.8 you'll get uploads! If you connect to more UP that means you get exposed to more searches but as soon as your uploads slots are full, people will be frustrated because they can't download from you. It is highly probable that LW prefers downloading from uptodate LW than 2 1/2 years old LW!!!

Got it?

I've been using the latest limewire for a long time and I never have more then 2-3 uploads going at a time over here..

I tried 2.8 today because I remembered it letting me have more connections
And it is showing more searches in the monitor window (MORE QUERIES FROM OTHER PEOPLE)

But not one person tried to or was able to download from me
So now I am back to the latest version
All three connections

three!

Ya three is good. Never thought that people didn't want the kind of files you share? Download a popular movie and be sure partial file sharing is enabled, you'll be swamped by uploads.

And a query in the monitor doesn't mean you'll send the seracher a search result. In fact you see more searches because 2.8 uses a QRT (query routing table) of 16KB and 4.8 uses QRT of 64KB. When a QRT is more than 50% filled, there are much more false positives and that what you see in 2.8 (more incoming searches), but that doesn't mean you send more search results.

Anyway use the latest, find files that are wanted and happy sharing.

Ciao

I want at least 20 connections!
My connection downloads @ 4MB and uploads @ 512... that means I ought to be fast enough to be an ultra peer and they get 30 connections!

Then use something else than LW and stop that madness. Sharing is good, harming a network and forcing files is NOT.

I don't want to harm any network over here
How come an ultrapeer doesn't harm the network if it has 30 connections?

it helps searching 30 other LW leaves. Remember an UP doesn't search/send results more than a leave. In fact being a leave expose you to more searches than an UP. The purpose of an UP is to increase the network density (number of hosts reached by search) and to let slow or firewalled hosts to search the network.

I guess people just don't want to download my files..
That sucks, because alot of people don't let me download because they think I never share
