These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

Upload filters Hello to everyone. I am somewhat new to this site and thus far I have enjoyed sharing with the community at large. I have been building a good collection of Music videos. What I would like to know is how or should I say why people do not enable the view host. I leave mine open so that people can see and download what ever they want from my lime wire file. When I look a someone uploading from me , I usually try and see what they have to offer that may interest me. I usually have about 7 out of 10 users that will not let me look at what they have to share. Are there filters out there to stop these people from being able to upload from me if they are not willing to let any user see what they have to share? I did find the filter that said if the user has no more then X amount of files to share do not let him connect, but since I believe that everyone has to start somewhere , I leave that filter open to the minimal amount. I want to be fare to everyone. Another question, When viewing a search and it says lets say 800 files found, If I look at the browsing tab to see what was found, there is never that many items there. Is there a subfolder that shows the rest of the search? Thanks and good uploads and downloads to everyone Tiamat Last edited by Tiamat; June 11th, 2005 at 09:35 AM. |

Browse host is a topic that some people agree with & others don't. To see this point have a look at this thread: BROWSE HOST (Should it be Optional?) Personally I feel like you do! AFAIK Searches such as a browse search are charged with a certain amount of energy. If that search is exhausted before all the information is complete then it times out. I've browsed people I was downlding from but the file I was downlding was not listed in the their files listed after a browse. lol So obviously not all of their files were able to be identified before the browse search timed out. It is much easier to browse someone if they have chat enabled. But even if they do or don't doesn't necessarily mean you can or can't browse them. I've browsed people who don't have chat enabled. But it definitely makes it easier if it is enabled. On the main interface, it's a little easier to browse someone from the downld window than selecting them from the search results even if you are downlding from them. Which is a little odd. As far as people uplding, yes it seems mostly only those with chat enabled can be browsed. Oh keep in mind that when you browse someone, it includes that person's files but will also add to the total some other people who have the identical file. So if you have a look under the # column you may see multiple sources for that file. Browsing is not always reliable. Hope that's of some help. Hmmm Browsing host could be mde optional that is fine, thought it seems to me that being a community that wants to share information videos etc that would not be a good Ideal. As far as my second question about filters does anyone have an answer tothat one. if there a way to block someone that will not let you view what he or she has? |

....THIS IS A PARTIAL REPLY TO YOUR QUESTION, AND ALSO A QUESTION AT THE SAME TIME... EVERY TIME I OPEN LIMEWIRE, THE SYSTEM TELLS ME THAT I AM UNDER AN "ULTRAPEER", SO IT WILL BE DIFFICULT FOR THE OTHERS TO MAKE RESEARCHES INSIDE MY FILES. MOREOVER, I CAN NOTICE THAT WHEN SOMEONE IS CONNECTED TO MY LIMEWIRE FILES FROM OUTSIDE, THE CONNECTION OFTEN GETS SHUT DOWN. JUST LIKE YOU, I THINK THAT IF I CAN DOWNLOAD SOMETHING FROM THE OTHERS, THE OTHERS MUST BE ABLE TO DONWLOAD SOMETHING FROM MY FILES.....SO, WHEN I STARTED TO USE LIMEWIRE I DISABLED THE FIREWALL, BUT NOTHING CHANGED.....AND I AM USING A FAST DSL LINE. ACTUALLY, I CAN'T SAY NOW IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO GET FILES FROM ME, BUT ANYWAY I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO MORE....... BYE TO EVERYBODY MEROVINGIO |
