Default version 4.8.1

I have been using Limewire for a long time with no problems until I updated to version 4.8.1. I search OK and then start to download at a high rate, then it rapidly goes to zero. Had no problems with version 4.2.6. Can anyone send me this version so that I can see if that is the problem? Thanks.

1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

2.Upgrade your Java to 1.5 & install it via your comp (not via the net!!!) (See previous link)

3.And To continue files downlding (click on link)

Default version 4.8.1

Tried all the suggestions, nothing has made any difference. Checked with my ISP Shaw Cable, they say they do not block peer to peer sharing. Very disappointing as Liomewire used to be so reliable. Pat

And you believe what the people at the front desk say (who probably don't know) that they are not secretly filtering you. They might not be but they rarely admit it. Why would they admit they're cheating you.

Try a file from here & see what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
These speeds should be very, very fast. If you don't get fast speeds then it makes one wonder. See this for the speeds you can get from that link: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...692#post138692

Hi. I did as suggested and tried some downloads with Magnet. Two of the files were audio and started strongly, then petered off. I tried a large file, an avi, and it downloaded at speeds from 19 kb to 24 kb until half way, then stopped. Started up again and finally I was able to download a complete file, the only one. All the other files from Limewire were sitting there either awaiting sources or downloading at 0 kb with no time displayed. Does this suggest anything. I have another query about my Firewall, Zonealarm. When I start up Limewire requests permission, then instead of Java requesting, the second pop up is also from Limewire. Is that the problem? Hope you can help.

I'm wondering if you haven't properly configured your firewall to allow LW full access. By the way Win XP has its own firewall. (Advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); config instructions: Firewall configuration instructions

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If your result is false then something's partially blocking your LW. Be that a firewall or modem/router.

I hope it's not your isp provider who is causing your downlds to slow down.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

Unhappy

Hi. My bug report says false for received incoming:
I have Win ME Limewire 4.8.1 128 MB Ram Java 1.5.0.01
My ISP is Shaw Cable and I download from home. I am not a very experienced computer user but I had no problem with the previous version of Limewire, thats why I wanted someone to send it to me. I have 6.31 GB space. Any ideas?
