Lost Downloads Help My computer froze due to a lack of resources and I had to shut down limewire using the task manager. When I restarted limewire, the message was given that it could not recover old downloads. The downloads window showed no downloads. The partial downloads are still in the incomplete files folder at the size they had reached prior to the problem and they can be previewed from that location. However if you try to resume them from the same location, when they reach the downloads window, they have lost the amount of the file that was downloaded previously and show 0% progress and begin downloading from the start. I have tried completely shutting down the computer and restarting from scratch but that didnt work. I can also search, finmd and download new files I have a lot of files that are partially downloaded and would hate to start them all over again, there is a lot of time invested in getting them to the stage they are at given that I am using dial-up. Any suggestions are welcomed anbd thanks for any help given Steven |
Unfortunately, if LW crashes or your computer crashes or LW is not shut down properly before you shutdown the comp then there's a high chance the downld preferences will have been corrupted. You can try searching for the sources & then resuming from the Library window incompletes. But perhaps odds are not that great for success. |

Thanks for the help steven PS can you tell me why some files are red and some are black in the incomplete folder |
In the incomplete folder, files that are red are ones that have lost their original source; ie: may have found a 2nd source & are downlding from that one instead. Search the word red on the forum & you'll end up with more fully explained answer. Normally the other files in the library are coloured using different rules. Those that are black are ones being shared & those that are red are not being shared. But this does not apply to the incomplete folder. |
