No Dwnload Sources

I am absolutely sure that there is something wrong with Limewire when it tries to find sources for any particular download.

Why? Because I had a downloaded file of which I didn't find any sources for a long period of time.. a week or something. And then, by simply searching with Limewire for the same file, I see the file is being resumed to download.

This means that my manual search aided Limewire to find sources and its automatic source finding sucks.

Thanks,
prabato.

You made a discovery that deserves a big applaud! lol :D That's right, a search for the file is much more effective than using Find Sources or Resume function! It's also healthier for the gnutella network. http://bestsmileys.com/clapping/5.gif

lol :D So I suppose that was irony?

If you're one of Limewire developers you should be laughing on yourself.. this is a shameful bug! ;)

i don't understand...

how do you "manual search" files?

Lord of the Rings June 26th, 2005 06:22 AM

No I don't work for LW. Nor do I get paid for helping out on the forum.

A manual search is simply using the search function. Type in the words of what you're looking for & press search. :D ;)

The reason I was applauding you prabato is b/c too many requeries with using the resume/find sources function makes too much traffic for the gnutella network. If everybody did that every few mins then the network would slow down due to too much traffic. Then all our downlds & searches would be very slow.

Good Boy

Well that's a good reason you know. But I wonder.. wasn't it decentralized servers? Or still it's centralized? Or maybe you don't get what I am talking about. :)

Lord of the Rings June 27th, 2005 08:56 PM

The Gnutella Netwk does not use centralised servers unlike some of the earlier p2p share networks (which have gone to court to fight about issues related to offering copyright material on central servers.) Instead, the Gnetwk is only users like yourself sharing files between each other. Yes some have fast connections & some slow. Some share a lot & some not so many.

Some tips to help you can be seen here: To continue files downlding (click on link) & see all the off-shoot links as they contain lots of hints & skills you may find very useful. ;) :)
