sharing on a home network...need help,Please i have a 3 computer network at home, with over 1,800 gigs of drive space, my problem is that i cannot get limewire to use one download/upload/incomplete location from one hard drive for all of the other computers, and this is inhibiting my multitasking capabilites.......any help? |

my problem is that i cannot get limewire to open the file over the network connection.......it will show the folder i want to share to,which is the same folder my primary lime wire uses, but it will not select that folder to save to.....and in troubleshooting...it would not open ANY of my files over the network connection, yet when i open a new window with the limewire running in the background,my network places shows me all the file folders and allows me the full proper access........i didnt quite understand the first reply, but maybe this will help me get a reply which makes more sense to me......this is my first network administrator stuff... |

oops, forgot to add...i only plan to run one instance of limewire, not multiple instances of limewire, its just that when i use limewire on one of my other computers, i want it to access all the same files no matter which computer i am on. |

I'm not much of a knowledge about setting up networks, but I suspect you're only connected to the network via the router. For full networking I suspect you'd need to be connected directly to the other comps via your ethernet cards. This is probably why you can only see but not touch the files from the other comps. |

my apologies for not being more specific, i will try to remedy that now,.....i am running 3 pentium 4 comps,on win xp pro, all comps are connected through x-over ethernet cables through nic cards.all comps have full acces to the other comps.all comps have internet connections, and outside of limewire, have full cpabilites to access and edit all files on all the other computer.....so that no matter what computer i asm using, i can do anything on any computer.....its kinda like having one computer with 3 keyboard,mouses,monitors,processors......etc....an d the only exception is when i use limewire. |

Salut AEternal_Darkness (based on the GC game I suppose), well it works on mac os x (even though I thought it didn't ) I believe it works on os x because the other computer mounts as a disk on the desktop. I don't think windows networking works like that. Are you using windows networking to achieve that or some other tool? Ciao

You should try LW 4.9.1 beta http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml and if it still doens't work, go in the beta forum and post on the 4.9.0 thread http://gnutellaforums.com/showthread...threadid=39790 about that behavior, LW devs might fix it for you in 5.0
