resuming incomplete downloads can anybody tell me how i can resume a download on an incomplete file(movie) it is a movie I partialy downloaded on winmx. I have moved the file to my incomplete folder on limewire and tryed to resume download but I get a message saying it is "not a valid incomplete file and cannot be resumed" please help me as my patience has run out with "crapmx" and limewire seems much more efficient. I am using limewire pro 4.8.1 on windows xp prof. |
No the LW Downld preferences or LW itself probably won't recognise it. That's a little like trying to open an M$ Word document with Notepad or something AFAIK. |
no possible way to do it then? |
No! I've read of people trying to do this with other p2p share programs with same result. For a start, your LW downld preferences keep a track of how far each file has progressed with downlding. When it comes across a file it hasn't seen before, then at the very best it will start it at 0%. At worst it won't recognise it at all. I'd suggest you start downlding it again afresh but with LW. |
bugger.(thanx anyway) |
Possible Work Around I encountered the same problem using Limewire Pro, and so I clicked on the incomplete file, did a search for that specific file. Then I clicked to download that file. Of course you will get a message stateing you already have that file. I selected the Append# option. I am hoping it will just add to the file I have, downloading only the missing portion. Not sure if it worked yet- as I am still in the process. |
Are you saying that you began to download this file with a different file-sharing program? That's what the original poster did. Let us know exactly what you're doing and how it turns out. :) Dano |
