resuming incomplete downloads

can anybody tell me how i can resume a download on an incomplete file(movie) it is a movie I partialy downloaded on winmx. I have moved the file to my incomplete folder on limewire and tryed to resume download but I get a message saying it is "not a valid incomplete file and cannot be resumed" please help me as my patience has run out with "crapmx" and limewire seems much more efficient. I am using limewire pro 4.8.1 on windows xp prof.

No the LW Downld preferences or LW itself probably won't recognise it. That's a little like trying to open an M$ Word document with Notepad or something AFAIK.

no possible way to do it then?

No! I've read of people trying to do this with other p2p share programs with same result.

For a start, your LW downld preferences keep a track of how far each file has progressed with downlding. When it comes across a file it hasn't seen before, then at the very best it will start it at 0%. At worst it won't recognise it at all. I'd suggest you start downlding it again afresh but with LW.

Possible Work Around

I encountered the same problem using Limewire Pro, and so I clicked on the incomplete file, did a search for that specific file. Then I clicked to download that file. Of course you will get a message stateing you already have that file. I selected the Append# option. I am hoping it will just add to the file I have, downloading only the missing portion. Not sure if it worked yet- as I am still in the process.

Are you saying that you began to download this file with a different file-sharing program? That's what the original poster did. Let us know exactly what you're doing and how it turns out. :)
