These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

same boat i don't have any answers for you as i'm in the same situation. my cable modem is faster than yours, i get 260-350 on the film download test, limeware usually shows me 'turbocharged' ... i've read and tweaked until i think i'll go mad - and d/ls slow to a crawl of 0-1 a lot of the time. i had =one= dl last night that was about 220 and nearly fainted. the fastest before then was around 40 - most typical is in the 3-15 range. i'm flummoxed. have had limewire for 3 days and used it a lot trying to make it work, but clearly, it's not useable this way. uploads are even worse. i see struggles of 1-5 - and lots of stalling out at 0. i changed settings to allow only 2 at a time hoping that might help. don't know what else to do/try. sorry to piggyback on your post, but am hoping we might both benefit from those more knowledgeable about limewire. |

I see, the biggest download ive had is about 40KB/s and then after about a week it went down to 20KB/s and now ill be lucky if the speeds go above 10 even sometimes 5KB/s. Example, last night i was downloading a cable/dsl file that was around 400MB (video) from *9* users/hosts and the speed was bewtween 5 - 10KB/s |

On your downld window do you have vendor/version column listed. If not, right-click the top of the column bar & select this view option. Then see which program you're downlding from. The reason I ask is that many videos come from Shareaza (RAZA) users. These users often (not always) only offer pitiful upload speeds to others (this is because they also work on another network where they can only downld as fast as they can upld.) At times they might only offer between 0.1 to 2 KB/s. From what you have told me, you definitely should be getting better speeds. It's either due to the sources or perhaps something as you suggested. You have Win XP SP2 right? Did you apply the patch for SP2 which corrects the no. of threads available for net use? I believe there's a M$ one but there's also a couple of 3rd party ones. See the top of my post here for links SP2 patches (click on link) With any luck that might help. |

Hi thanks for getting back to me, sorry if ive been too persistant/annoying its just that ive had this for weeks now and ive failed to find any solution elsewhere on the forum. I looked at the vendor (I had to research for the file because it finally downloaded after about a week lol today) and the vendor was LIME. I dont think i have that SP2 patch - what does it do - could it significantly help access from the port to the internet?? Ill look at it now and get back to you Thanks again |

The patch is supposed to increase the limit SP2 allows for internet connections. Have a look at the following post & check out the different hints & extra downld skills: To continue files downlding (click on link) Varying your technique may help. Re-searching the topic can help to refresh the sources, etc. As can also cancelling & reselecting to downld. |

I rang my ISP, PlusNet to see if they in some way are filtering the port 6346 and they said they weren't. Apparently they do block/filter 3 ports but 6346 isnt one of them. However they said that they do limit bandwidth to the p2p ports because apparently they slow down the network which could be why. In which case there's nothing i can do, cant afford 21.99 a month for premier. Could you investigate PlusNet for me somehow, i know you did that for another user, (my package is Broadband Plus 14.99/month 2mb) and see of they are indeed filtering or blocking anything. I followed your tips, tried different downloads and speeds much the same, sluggish under 10KB/s. If that comes back fine then i could try reinstalling SP1 (not sure how to do that though). Ive tried putting different ports in, (80, and the others you said in a post somewhere on a forum) and nothing changed... Alternatively, do you know any broadband packages around the same price as mine which dont operate on a bandwidth - limiting network/system and instead cater to users/customers who download large files a lot. I really appreciate your help |
