Once you have done your searches and found what you want,

you can either double click it and it will start downloading or once

the item is highlighted click on the download button to start the download

go to search box type in what you are looking for and when the list comes up choose one and highlight it and download it, wait till it finishes and thats it

Hey, it just takes some getting used to limewire and all the bullsh*t that people have on it. Basically check the size of the download and see if it is comparable to what you think it should be for the item you are downloading. Also, it's typically safer to download something that has a lot of people hosting it.

Although this is a good rule of thumb, it's not perfect. For some reason it seems like there are a TON of people who all host a file that is around 850kb in size. This file is a virus, and it seems like everyone has it. If you search for a program that you want to download, just take a look and you will see what i mean. It's nuts.... It seems like everyone has been a victim to some kind of virus and it doesn't matter what you are searching for, you always see TONS of files with different names that are around 850kb, and when you download it, it is a zipped file, and when unzipped the icon is named "setup" to make you think you downloaded the actual program of interest, but when u click it, it is a virus...

Just beware... Use you best judgement.

The file i was referring to in the previous post is 851.7kb and it is a zipped file. So to everyone who reads this, no matter what you are searching for or trying to download, do not download it if it is this size..

Have a look at the Sticky thread at the top of this section, it has lots of clues about downlding & how to use LW effectively. Including about video downlds.

Re: Viruses; there's a Sticky in the Open Discussion section which advises about this.
