slow p2p DL hi, can someone help me fix and tell me why when i download from the net using a web browser like internet explorer it dl's at about 32kB but when i dl from a p2p programme, like limewire and bittorent, it only dl's at 0-3kB with a lot of sources/seeds. i have tried a few things. i have opened the ports and made exceptions for them with my firewalls. i have change the amount of open ports to 50 (sp2 4226 problem). i have tried dling accelorators like bt engine and everything runs the same. my broadband is 256k, i use an adsl router, i have windows xp firewall and pc-cillin int. security 2004 firewall running. also have sp2 |

hi, i tried disabling my firewalls and it was still the same. also, just lately, my p2ps have been disconnecting or taking a long time to connect to the network/tracker. i've tried port forwarding but it doesn't seem to fix the problem. i've used port forwarding with my routers ip and also with this pc's ip (i done a search on 'whats my ip' and used that ip). i dont know if i am doing it right or not but everything i try doesnt seem to work. please help, thanx. |

ok. i've had a look at www.portforward.com and made my ip a static ip (i think). how do you know if you have a static ip or not. i followed all the instructions except for 1. it has to do with the dns server. (you should open this page in a new tab/browser before reading on. http://www.portforward.com/networkin...ic-xp-dhcp.htm near the bottom of the page) under 'network connections' 'properties' 'general' 'Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)' 'properties' under the section 'Use the following DNS server Addresses' there are two boxes. there is the preferred dns server' and the 'alternate dns server'. in the example both boxes are filled and are different to the 'defult gateway' box. when i done my one i only had the one dns server, which i put in the 'preferred box', which was the same number as my 'default gateway'. i'm not sure if all this matters but after doing all this my connection to p2p/bittorent is still the same (very slow). my router is DSE(Dick Smith Electronics) XH1169, i use xp sp2, and have tried it with my firewalls diabled. i have also changed my ports to 50000 and above. everythings is still the same. can someone help please. i have tried to post a comment on portforward.com, but have had no response. |
