![]() Speeds of downlds depend upon your sources; ie: the people you're downlding from. See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) You have the same isp speed as I do; 256 kbps. Don't get confused between kbps & KB/s. kbps = kilo bits per second KB/s = Kilo Bytes per second 8 bits = 1 byte I generally get 27 KB/s maximum speed from LW (including all downlds combined.) That's after overheads are subtracted (yes you lose between 13 to 20% of ISP advertised speed due to various things such as distance from phone exchange, loss due to modem itself, etc.) |

![]() Keep in mind that be it cable, T1 or T3, they might have a large no. of slots open for sharing & thus their upld bandwidth is shared between many users. Also the client can make a difference. eg: Shareaza (RAZA) uses more than one p2p network & they use most of it for one which requires they can only downld as much as they upld so they use most of their bandwidth on this network & often only offer Gnutella users small contributions like 0.1 to 3 KB/s. You can right-click (mac control click) the top of the column headings to show more options such as client/version to show what program you are downlding from. It's always preferable if you're downlding from more than one source. For that reason, I use other skills as much as possible such as DC & browsing which can help with continuing incompletes & also finding more sources. Of course, searching the topic again some time later can often find more sources b/c people log on & off the net all the time. Downld a magnet link from here & see what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml To see what speeds you can potentially get see Stief’s example: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...692#post138692 Don't forget to see my link in my 1st post & see all the off-shoot links b/c there's a lot of important & effective hints & skills suggested. |
