Movie files download, but wont play...

The movies seem to download ok, but when i try to play them, the windows media player wont play the selection and comes up with an error message. Whats wrong?

CODECs!!!! Get a backup player such as VLC which has in-built codecs & plays almost everything!!! See the Sticky at the top of this section by pressing Go button below left or a short cut to the particular thread is here CODECs list and alternate players for Movies

When you dl a movie file check the file extensions. Windows media player will only play wma files not avi, you can also download free avi movie players from the web.
