I would make sure what format the file you are trying to download is. Also, take a look at the size of it. KB's are usually the smallist files; MBs are larger in size, and that is what you should be looking for.

WMA's are usually the spamish things like porn that you get when you attempt to download a TV show in that format.

Try downloading the TV show in AVI format. If you are using windows media player to play it, make sure you have the codecs you need for it to play.

If the file cannot play due to a missing codec, a window shoud pop-up saying so..Click the "Web Help" botton, and that should tell you where you can get the currect codec.

Hope that helps!

you can also go to tool>options>filters
and select ignore adult material

in your Limewire options, I think under sharing, you can also choose what file extensions to bring up, if you have it all set on default, all the extensions will come up in the search results. You really dont need all those weird file extensions, just the basic ones. Always check the size of the file before downloading it. Tv shows & movies are usually very large files. I usually dump al the useless file extensions just to bring up the normal ones, saves a lot of time. you can avoid the wird stuff easily by changing a few settings.

In mine I can only chose what extentions I want to SHARE ... but I find to my surprise I am still using 4.8.1 Would I be wise to get 4.9.11???

I have read all the posts recently about filters and so on and I have the meresst feeling that Limewire is loosing the battle with the spammers. The spammers have found ways to bypass ANY filter we apply, and let's be honest we can not apply many ... I'm no expert on Computers, but if the spammers can do something to mess up Limewire, ..... cannot Limewire DVs do something to stop them messing it up?

What I've found that works is putting words that are found in the porn files names(ie. slut) into the filter. Ever since I did that I have not come across any porn crap in my searches.

yeah, thats what I do to avoid some of the junk files. I just had to redo it this morning. why Limewire puts in all those useless extensions is beyond me. ;)

Limewire is only a file sharing app that connects you to the network. it really cant do anything about porn or stopping any users from uploading junk files like porn, viruses etc.

it would have to be on it's own file sharing network to do that.

P2P simply means you are downloading off your fellow peers. Gnutella has really gone down the tubes for file sharing though thanks to the RIAA/MPAA.

all a P2P app can do for ya is filters and extensions. stopping users from sharing on the gnutella network would be the RIAA's dream, one they cant achieve except through lawsuits. so imagine a file sharing app trying to filterout all the bad stuff? No can do.
