Default Can't access moved files

I used windows explorer to move all my downloaded files to a larger partition. After the move all files are not usable.

Windows media player gives the error:

"Cannot open. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again."

When I try to move the files back I get the error:

cannot copy "filename" access denied. make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I tried renaming my original download directory but still no go. The files show in limewire but they are all in red.

Any ideas?

Thanks

you need to change your media path in WMP, you also need to change your share directories and your save directories in limewire.

I tried changing, resetting to default and resetting again my limewire share directory, download directory settings with no effect. I even deleted limewire 4.8.1 and installed the newer 4.9 but still no luck.

Could you explain further on changing my wmp settings?

Also it is not only video but audio and images that can't be accessed.

also forgot to mention my system specs. I'm running XPpro with no accounts other than the main admin account.

Thanks again

Easiest solution is to open WMP up & go to media library, press the add button & choose search comp for media files. Then you will be able to re-add them. Sample (not exact example) image here: Using windows media player

K tried that. WMP Found all the files. When I double clicked the first one they all turned from green to orange with a "!" on the left side and I got this message:

Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

If the files are "in use" by limewire; I could try deleting the software and seeing what effect that has

Thanks again

This is driving me crazy. Seems you can "copy" a file to another folder and it works fine but "move" it and it's garbage.

Moving files seems to me to be a very common thing for someone to do. Limewire should be able to work with this.

I've got 9 gigs of files that I can't access, move, copy, delete simply because I moved them in an effort to store them on a partition with more free space.

This is nuts
