Many p2p downloads will be coming from relatively slow uploads. These are likely to be slower than browser type downloads which generally come from very fast sourses, explained in laymans terms ......... LW is not very likely to match browser type speed even with broadband's help on a regular basis.

Broadband will help and so will downloading files with a number os sourses

Default broadband already in use

I've already use a broadband at 1Mbps but my limewire is still slow. i've tried downloading the same file with my friend at the same time and he finished it in a few minutes but i need for about one day to complete the download. i've tried to close my firewall because i thought it might cause limewire to be slow but it still doesn't work. what should i do?

Do you mean you are getting speeds of 130 kb on LimeWire if you are 130 is about the max you are going to get on a 1mbps connection

Have you tried deleting the preference folder. And by the way you will have a better chance of getting your problem fixed if you give a accurate description of your problem.

Hello to all - This is my first post.
Unfortunately it is on seeking help.

I am experiencing the same issues as nanotubes. I have been a limewire user for about 18 months and have never had any problems. However I recently upgraded to 4.9.23 and at first had no issues. 24-36 hours later however the maximum download speed achieveable is now only 4kb/s!

I am running Xp with:
AMD 2800
1Gb Ram
1mb ADSL Connection
Java J2SE runtime enviroment 5.0 update 3
Norton antivirus and firwall.

No hardware was changed or adjusted inbetween working and not working. The only others changes were some software installs but i have uninstalled these in an effort to fix the problem to no avail.
I have also followed all the instructions in Granpa's link above.

Please help - I'm getting download withdrawl symtoms as we speak

Best Regards

Mark
