It seems like 90% of the files that are showing up in searches lately have a file size of exactly 851.7KB. Can anyone shed some light on this? Alot of them have dual extensions as well. Are these malicious files, or do I have something configured incorrectly? If it is the former, can I filter them somehow?

These Files are not good news! If you click the search button (above right and enter 851.7 you will find all about them! There are rumours of a size filter being thought about, and also a spam filter, but these paricular beasts cannot be effectively filtered other than by entering the extensions into the word filter but that may not be totally effective and will not be much use if you are looking for files with those extentions.
