Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

Slow downloads I had all sorts of problems when I got started with Limewire. As I learned, the reason I couldn't connect at first was because my connection is via a BT voyager ADSL router. So, after much research, I discovered I needed to create a static IP then open & forward ports in order to use any p2p. It took a while but I managed to get it sorted, using Manual Port Forward on Limewire. Everything was great. But recently I have noticed a marked drop in download speeds. Whether I'm downloading 1 file or 20 files, I only ever get a (combined) download speed of 5-6kbps. I'm on a 2mbps connection. I have just upgraded to v4.9.27 & have the same problem still. I've just checked my connection speed & it's giving me true 2mbps. What's getting me is that it did work fine, then suddenly slowed down. Is my ISP taking a dim view of the way I use my connection & squeezing me out? Any ideas greatfully appreciated. Last edited by JustinCredible; August 24th, 2005 at 09:57 AM. |

Hi JustinCredible New To Limewire myself, use'd a lot of p2p programs but what thing I've noticed quite a lot in the last few weeks is Isps are limiting the amount of your upload speed, I've got a 2.2mb/s connection which means I can download about 250KB/s but can now only upload at 256kb/s which is 25-27KB/s reasonablly, also you have to take into account that other people are uploading to 2 other people apart from you, although I only upload to 1 at a time to get their files uploaded faster |

I understand why downloads can sometimes be frustratingly slow. But something isn't right here. If I search for something common, where there might be, say 200 copies of the same file coming up on a search, that file will still download at no more than 5KB/s. And if I'm already downloading a file then that 6KB/s is split between both files, and they both download at appx 3KB/s. It's behaiving as though I'm on a much slower connection. But I've tested & tested my connection speed, which is true 2.2Mbps still. Any ideas? |

Hi JustinCredible I am now having the same problem as you, also it seems that since I started using 4.9.28, that I'm having a lot of Transfer Interrupted uploads, went back to 4.9.23 where I wasn't having problems, but that now seems the same, I think that personally the network is having problems. Also something i've noticed is that a lot of the P2P programs are now becoming the same, my ISP which is Demon does not restrict my use of the internet, but what they have done is kept it to 256 upload which is about 31KB/s which realisticly is about 27KB/s upload, which lately on the P2P networks I've come no where near it uploading and I only upload 1 File at a time unless I know it's somebody is on 56k modems then I open up another slot, which gets their files up faster. I have also noticed a great decrease on the download speed, even if I have say 200 sources, Limewire only downloads from 10 sources at a time, but even on the other P2P networks which will take from as many sources as possible, iv'e noticed that I'm lucky to get a 25KB/s download which is pathetic on a 250KB/s download connection, so I've come to the conclusion that the networks are now in a mess, also I've noticed a marked decrease in speed from Emule. 256 kbps upload ability is about what you said, around 27-28 KB/s. Remember that there's always overhead loss. eg: http://www.pmasoft.net/englisch/oe/r...20internet.htm Which represent between 13-over 20% of isp dedicated speeds. Perhaps this might help: See the following link & follow "ALL" the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) |

Hi Lord of the Rings That's what I said the upload speed is 31KB/s which is about 27KB/s taking into account the overheads, I Have also looked at all the threads, what I was saying is the Networks are in a mess because of all the spammers, If you click on a link with more than say 3 sources, most of the time your download will drop to about 5-6 K download, because they F**** T3s get into the action, which as you know most of them are spammers and they restrict your download speed. Hi Sphinx I Agree with you most of the cable/dsl users are genuine and that's who I download from as well. But what i've found as well is that a lot of files cut off before they should, also another is that some p***** makes noises in the files But generally I download from 1-2 sources Sgt Last edited by Sgt; September 4th, 2005 at 11:02 PM. |
