you know I keep saying this over and over again: it does not matter how fast you go but how fast the host allows you to go when downloading. your speed doesnt matter for a hill of beans. Personally dsl sucks for speed. I download music files in under two minutes if its cable to cable downloads. you can have a T1 and if you're downloading off a modem you cant go any faster than then host will allow you too. its computer to computer not network to network. so to get disgruntled over your own speed is a waste of time in my opinion. Some days I dl at 30k at other days I download at 1k. I avoid modem users at all costs when I download a music file. and if you're behind a firewall then you're screwed unless you reconfig it. Do yourselves a favor and forget your speeds when downloading off a P2P network. Last edited by Sphinx; August 27th, 2005 at 12:58 PM. |

I only download from cable and up users. I am having problems with my provider I think. My downloads are only 10 to 20kbs now...after all the configuring. Does this mean that this is my max now? i called my provider and they say they don't block p2p. how can i check if they are or not? Got new information: My internet provider says they do NOT block UP2P or P2P. So does this mean I have a firewall issue??? Last edited by calstylin; August 27th, 2005 at 07:19 PM. |

just a little recap on what's going on....i was just sitting here...wondering why i can't download at fast speeds. something told me to try a search on charter cable...which is my internet provider. I could not believe what came up....some posts were from 2001! They "Charter" have been black listing isp's...that is why the downloads only get up to 20kbs and then back down to 0kbs. they have even threatened some of the gnuetella network users that they would turn them in to the police...really shitty stuff if you ask me... I called them up to see if they were blocking p2p and they said they don't block or filter...which I truely believe is a lie... thanks for all the help from everyone...let me know if there is more I can do because I do love my limewire!!! |
