Angry moved all my folders, now my download list is messed up

hi, i recently got an external hard drive and repointed all the folders in LW to it. this caused my old download list to be messed up because my old incomplete folder was on my regular hard drive, but that was ok. i expected this, and that's fine.

i started downloading with the new external drive folders and everything was fine. i shut down, and restarted a few days later. at this time, i forgot to turn on the hard drive, and got error messages saying the folders were non-existent. i turned it on, and eventually go LW up, but after it reverted to default folders.

at this point, the download list started showing a bunch of old stuff - not sure how it did that. it did not have any of the stuff in the external incomplete folder which is what i want it to see.

how do i get LW to use that folder to populate the download list so they can all resume?

i'm using LW 4.9.27, windows XP, cable connection.

thanks
dave

edit your folder setting in Limewire and that should clear it up.

in the folder where the Incomplete folder is(on the external hard drive), make a new folder (let's say "temp")

now go to tools->options->saving

under you can choose the folder for saving files (in the edit box) enter the adress of "temp" (x:\downloadx\...\temp)
You can do this by clicking on browse...

hit apply,OK -> restart LW

hi, that didn't seem to work. i tried pointing it to the directory you indicated, but that didn't work, so i tried pointing it to a different level in the hierarchy and still no luck.

any other thoughts?

I noticed in you first post you reverted LimeWire to default when you did this you told LW to look in the default location which I believe is C:/Program Files/LimeWire not sure because I have never used the default setting. My guess is you need to configure LW. With LW open go to library/share new files and add the files again. If you haven't already done this. The reason you are showing old files you no longer have LW is showing the files that use to be in your old incomplete folder. The file may no longer be there but the name still is you can go into the old folder and delete the names out of it.

Not really a solution... (take it as a last solution...)

(first make a backup of your actual "incomplete" folder ) exit LW (with right click on the small icon near the watch -> Exit ) -> go to your actual "incomplete" folder -> delete everything -> go to the "incomplete" folder on the external hard drive -> select all files -> copy them -> go back to your actual "incomplete" folder -> paste them here -> start LW...

Good Luck !!!
