Does Limewire download Files linear from start to end or are there empty spaces between the chunks it is downloading (like edonkey)?

okay, so what does the preview feature do then?

Does it just remove empty space and create the video file, or does it only show the first junk from the start of the file?
I'm asking cause vlc can open the incomplete file and you can view more parts of a video file than with preview...
