Perhaps because it's full of viruses, etc. Someone downlded a copy some months ago & ended up with a version full of viruses. LW 4.8.1 hasn't officially been available for a couple of mths now at least. If you want the real thing then get it here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |

The LW Basic version offers a couple of versions, one is an offline installer. However, I just checked the pro page & there doesn't seem to be such an option for those with downlding & installation problems. Normally I'd recommend using the 'Other' version (OS/2, solarus, etc.) which means all you need to do is unzip it & you can use it. But I'm not 100% sure it comes in a pro version. You can try it. See Here about other version. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; September 4th, 2005 at 01:16 AM. |

Hello, I just did that, but it still doesn't download anything. Here is a screenshot. Is appears to 'start' downloading, but than it STOPS (by each song or other stuff). I just tested it with this song. |

My apologies ... I totally misunderstood your problem. I thought you were having problems downlding the LW Pro program from the LW site! duh I am sorry for my mistake! It would seem to me that something is interfering with your LW. It might be a firewall, anti-virus or an old unreliable modem/router losing packets of data, or a line issue, etc. (there's online line testing you can do to check for packet loss.) It might be worth defragmenting your hard disk drive & checking your system over with file & hard disk drive repair utilities just in case. Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. BTW if it makes it any easier, there's a German forum section for LW problems: Deutsch: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumd...ne=&forumid=78 |

Salut userke: what CPU (and speed) do you have? Very fast CPU tend to create corruption problems in LW. Turn your anti-virus off just to test if it is interfering (corrupting downloads). If it doesn't work, do the test this time with your firewall software off. (remember to get them up ASAP after) Does it work with one or other off? Ciao
