You say nothing about your OS your p2p application or anything!!! but I'll make a guesss that your downloads are saved on your desktop and whilst they are downloading an incomplete folder appears .... because the file is ... incomplete.

Anyway ...please read the forum rules, chose the correct forum, check all the stickies for that forum, and then post back ion the correct forum with a clearer description of your equipment and preference settings.

The desktop is a very poor choice of locations to downld to. For a start is puts pressure upon the startup system since it's upon the same partition/disk AFAIK (for mac anyway.)

What you should do is downld to a folder within your account folder upon your computer, then create a shortcut/alias & put that upon your desktop. In any case, you can go to the LW Library window & select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button & it will open the folder up for you.

To answer you question, you probably can't delete the folder/file because someone is uplding a file from it. Particularly if you have the option for share partially downlded files active. You wouldn'lt be able to delete the main LW folders such as the downld folder or incomplete folder whilst LW is open. Close LW down before you make changes like that. Change your preferences settings before you make changes.

After just rereading your post, it means you are definitely downlding to a folder on your desktop. Yes all the incomplete files will be stored within a folder called incomplete at the same directory level (in this case the desktop.) The downld folder & incomplete folder are necessary & will be within the same directory level (under same parent) wherever you set your downld folder to be. Partial downlds will go to the incomplete folder. Once they are 100% downlded, LW will move them to your downld folder, but not until they are 100% downlded. Your errors are due to either setting your downld folder to the desktop or for tampering with the incomplete folder, etc. which is a necessary folder for LW to function properly.

BTW the LW sections are found here: Limewire Forum sections & don't forget to read the Forum Rules (click here)

Default Big Thanks

thanks for your smart comments only a hobo and lord of the rings.

as you probably could tell from my FIRST AND ONLY post, im not familiar with limewire and was looking for some advice.

os and p2p applications are foreign to me, and I wasn't sure which forum to put my query in, so I went for a general discussion forum, this being the obvious one to go for if you are not familar with the forums.

all I wanted was a little advice from someone who knows a bit more on this subject than me.

just to set the record straight, I DID NOT tamper with any of the settings. I DID install version 4.8 as version 4.9 was rubbish. It was once I installed the older version that this fault occured.

So once again thanks for your help.

Is there anyone else out there that could help somone less fortunate with this query? Any genuine help you can give would be much appreciated.

regards djdoci
