Default Find Sources

I am using LimeWire 4.8.1 Pro. My downloads usually go dormant after awhile, saying 'need more sources'.

Sometimes I get the option to click on 'find sources', but most of the time all I have for an option is to 'force resume'. Is there some way to access the 'find sources' on demand?

Default Need more sources

Force resume actually acts as find sources when used. One suggestion is to search for the file again. It usually will find the same file and start downloading it again. If not, the file isn't available on the network, and you'll need try to find it another time.

Default Find Sources

Are you sure that 'force resume' starts as 'find sources'?

When I choose 'force resume' all it does is try to connect, with whichever source it had before, I assume. After awhile the familiar 'need more sources' appears.

Whenever the actual 'find sources' is offered I get decent download sources.

I would like to know what actually triggers the offering of 'find sources', and if there is a way to make it happen at will.

Default Find Sources Option

I am asking again if anyone knows what triggers the option to 'find more sources', as opposed to 'force resume'.

I've been told that 'force resume' actually starts with 'find sources', but I see no indication of that when I click on 'force resume'. All that happens is an apparent sttempt to connect (Most likely with the previous connection) and a return to 'awaiting sources'.

Is there a way to force the option to 'find more sources'? What causes the 'force resume' as opposed to 'find more sources'?

(I am running Limewire 4.8.1 Pro)

Anyone have any real grasp of this problem?

mtntravler said what I would have said. The latest versions do not have a "force resume" and afaik "find sourses" does exactly the same thing, but I could be corrected on this.

It is sometimes a nuisance when you have a queue downloading and for some reason the transfer gets interrupted and you return to find all the files awaiting sources. Resume restarts the download no problem. I wish LW could somehow differenciate between this situation and a genuine "need more sourses" situation.

The feature does not automatically look for sourses because, we have been told many times, if this was automatic it would place an unbearable strain on the Gnutella Network.

I hope this helps answer your query (and please don't cross post as that puts a strain on the members who try to help )

I repeat what mtntravier said
" One suggestion is to search for the file again. It usually will find the same file and start downloading it again. If not, the file isn't available on the network, and you'll need try to find it another time."
and add that a new search will probably give more similar versions of the same file, which will not start automatically, but you can select your choice and download yourself.

I merged these threads.

As Only A Hobo said, resuming/finding sources for too many files at once is not good for the network, & may even give your LW, computer & connection device problems. It's better we use the network responsibly & effectively than having massive pinging/search queries which would result in a network that would slow to a crawl if everyone did it. Then that wouldn't be good for anyone.
