no one can upload from me just downloaded and installed the most recent version of Lime Wire on my PC running windows XP home edition the computer I am using is one of 3 on my network. I use a linksys router I have put 100 movie files in my shared folder. When I go to library I see them and they are all getting Hits. I have not had one upload. Does this mean no one wants my files? OR... is it that they cannot upload files from me because of my network or firewall. ============ on a side note: when you search can you see your own files? ============== side note #2: what determines the quality of a file. In other words how do I get my stars? CROSSPOSTING - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Edited to comply with the House Rules. The stars only represents your chances of getting that file. ie: the quality of connections available for downlding that file. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If true then nothing to worry about. If false then you have a firewall partially blocking incoming. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) Normally people cannot search their own files. However, some people can for some reason but this shouldn't happen. |
thanks for the post I have FALSE now what do I do? I did not do any configuration on LW I am not sure how do I need to set a port in my LinkSYS router? |
I guess it depends how old your Linksys is. Most of them use UPnP which means it will communicate directly with LW to open the necessary port. I might recommend disabling Ultrapeer capabilities. Go to Tools>Options>Speed & tick disable UP capabilities & press apply. Use my link for configuring your firewall. If you have XP firewall then use those instructions in my 1st post. If you have 2 firewalls, then disable one of them. Be that XP or the other. 2 firewalls will often cause problems by interfering with each others operation. |
I turned off my XP (service Pack 2) firewall ====== I disabled Ultra Peer ======= still getting false ======== what should the Listening port be set to? ========= do you know how to find the IP the router has for a computer in the network? |
The default listening port is 6346. You could try different listening ports for each of your LW's. Don't forget to press apply after each one. You might even need to close & reopen LW for it to have full effect, I'm not sure. Well failing everything you can port forward. But you'd need to do a separate port forward for each computer as only one computer can use a particular single port when port forwarded. The ip no. of your router is generally the same for each brand or model. For linksys you can find out from the following link. The steps of port forwarding; most important is setting up a static ip correctly otherwise next time you connect the entire process won't have worked. 1. Set up a static ip. 2. Forward a port such as 6346; find instructions for your model either here: http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm which will also show how to set up a static ip. OR use Linksys own instructions. Setting up a static ip: Static ip for Linksys, & Port forwarding for Linksys 3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. |
ok I am now getting a TRUE ====================== I set up a port to 6346 in my router and then did the firewall instructions also ======================== maybe you could find one of my files and download it? |
one last thing when I search I never fine WMV files are those filtered out for some reason |
I both direct connected & browsed you without problems. The only files I found were wmv. Go to Tools>Options>Filters>Keyword & see if wmv is listed. If yes then you can remove it. BTW if things are running fine now you can re-enable your ultrapeer capabilities if you desire. Now that you have incoming & with a T1 connection it might be helpful for the network. :) |
if you wanted you could have downloaded no problem? |
